Frank Fox’s Farm

dsc01355Frank, a bachelor worked on our farm quite often.  He was a kind gentle person and a hard worker.  His farm was very small.  He planted a few potatoes, cucumbers and raised a few chickens.   Franks drove a Model A car. He died of a stroke in 1957 or 1958 I believe.  I was still at the Art Institute of Chicago at the time of his death.  Since his death I was able to do an oil and two watercolor paintings of his place.  Frank was a humble man. He would have been very pleased that these paintings represent, to me, an  icon of humility .  At Christmas he usually gave our family a box of  chocolates cherries, probably a large financial sacrifice from his little income.  Frank lived just a quarter mile from our farm.                                                                                Size: 20″ x 24″
