This is a painting of St. Lawrence Catholic Church located in the small village of Navarino.   Navarino is about two miles from the farm where I  lived until I went into military service.  I received the sacraments of Baptism and First Communion at St. Lawrence Catholic Chuch.  My mother and father were married in this church as well.  My dad, two brothers and a sister as well as other relatives and friends are buried in the parish cemetary.

This is part of the former Nisler dairy farm in Chilton where my wife was was born and grew up.  Joanne left the farm after finishing high school.  She attended Technical School in Appleton.  After graduating she was employed by an Insurance Company.

Just having fun moving paint around and  sort of letting it do what  it might want to do.  Recently painted this in Florida where we go for a short time in February and/or March every year.  Our son Steve, wife Michelle and two grandsons, Gus and Owen live in Delray where we stay in a nice guest house on their property.  Love it.

Flowers and Flowers

Recently painted.  Perhaps, mainly inspired from a wall of flowers seen while touring  Ireland a few years ago.  That same wall of flowers influence one or two other paintings as well.   Tried not to dominate the paint or the flowers in the painting.  Wanted the watercolor paint to show it’s characteristics and allow the flowers to emerge freely from the wet paint.  Cooperative effort between, paint, flowers and myself.

Wild Flowers

During one of my week long retreats I walked passed this scene three times each day. It is located on the west side of Timber Trail Lane, a long entrance road, leading to the Redemptorist Retreat Center just southeast of Oconomowoc. After being inspired by the actual scene I took the liberty of adding a few extra buildings and other details.

Pussy Willows

I enjoy the spontaneity of this water color.  It was was planned well and done very quickly, in a matter of just a few minutes.  Sometimes I kick the life out of the paint.  This time I let the paint show it’s own personality.

A spontaneous semi-abstract watercolor with the season of fall in mind.  The watercolor paint struts its wet on wet characteristics  throughout the sky, trees and reflections.  Quickly done and  enjoyable to paint.
